  • Pitou
Pitou 1715-1815, p. 479 : "Rousselois, Marie-Wilhelmine de (b. 1765, Vienna; d. 1850, Brussels), singer, began her career as première chanteuse at the French Opéra in Cassel during 1784, and she moved to Paris in 1786. She managed to obtain a contract at the Opéra, where she came to the attention of the public on account of her brilliant interpretation of the title role in Gluck's Iphigénie en Aulide. Unfortunately, her success in this work and in Démophon aroused Mlle Maillard's jealousy, and she found herself cut off from further progress. Subsequently she alternated between the theatres of Rouen and Brussels, but she settled at last in Belgium. She did not retire from the theatre until 1838."
