Jean HARDEN: 'Navoigille, Julien', Grove Music Online ed. L. Macy (Accessed 15 June 2004), http://www.grovemusic.com :
"Navoigille, Julien [le cadet]
(b Givet, c1749; d ?Paris, after 1811). French composer. He was known as a violinist in Paris by about 1773 and was active thereafter as teacher, player, director and composer. It is difficult to separate his activities from those of his brother, Guillaume Navoigille l’aîné. Julien was apparently deputy leader and later director of the private orchestra of the Count of Provence (later Louis XVIII) from 1789 to 1792. Subsequently he directed at the Théâtre de la Pantomime (later Théâtre de la Cité), for which he wrote La naissance de la pantomime and L’héroine suisse, ou Amour et courage. He was in the Netherlands with his brother from 1805 to 1810 but then returned to Paris. As well as stage works, Navoigille composed a substantial body of chamber music."
