"Son (1678 – 1726) of Jean Berain I, he worked with his father at the court theaters and held the title of dessinateur du cabinet du Roi after him. He may have designed costumes for celebrations under the young Louis XV. Decugis and Reymond also credit him with at least part of the decors for Callirnol (sic), Télégone, Stratagèmes de l'amour and a repeated performance of his father's Phaëton, all at the Royal Academy.
