Robin Thurlow Lacy, A biographical dictionary of scenographers, p. 175 : "Pupil of Servandoni and scenographer (1723 – 1807), he is credited with painting a setting for a revival of Rameau's Dardanus at the Opera in 1760. […] De Machy also executed a setting for Orphée in 1776. He painted many large canvases of ruined architecture and used this style of design to plan the decor for several of the large, outdoor pageants staged after the revolution; Fete de l'Etre Supreme in 1794 and Fete de l'Unite in 1795."
